چکیده

Abstract We theoretically analyse a long constriction between the helical edge states of two-dimensional topological insulator. The is laterally tunnel-coupled to two superconductors and magnetic field applied perpendicularly plane Josephson current calculated analytically up second order in tunnel coupling both absence presence bias (DC AC currents). show that cases acquires an anomalous 4 π -periodicity with respect flux absent if edges are not each other. result, provides at same time characterisation device possible experimental signature edges, stable against temperature. processes responsible for ones where, within constriction, one electrons forming Cooper pair tunnels edges.

Anomalous spin Hall effects in Dresselhaus (110) quantum wells

Anomalous spin Hall effects that belong to the intrinsic type in Dresselhaus (110) quantum wells are discussed. For the out-of-plane spin component, antisymmetric current-induced spin polarization induces opposite spin Hall accumulation, even though there is no spin-orbit force due to Dresselhaus (110) coupling. A surprising feature of this spin Hall induction is that the spin accumulation sign...

Topological spin texture in a quantum anomalous Hall insulator.

The quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) effect has been recently discovered in an experiment using a thin-film topological insulator with ferromagnetic ordering and strong spin-orbit coupling. Here we investigate the spin degree of freedom of a QAH insulator and uncover the fundamental phenomenon that the edge states exhibit a topologically stable spin texture in the boundary when a chiral-like symmet...

Prospect of quantum anomalous Hall and quantum spin Hall effect in doped kagome lattice Mott insulators

Electronic states with non-trivial topology host a number of novel phenomena with potential for revolutionizing information technology. The quantum anomalous Hall effect provides spin-polarized dissipation-free transport of electrons, while the quantum spin Hall effect in combination with superconductivity has been proposed as the basis for realizing decoherence-free quantum computing. We intro...

Quantum anomalous Hall and quantum spin-Hall phases in flattened Bi and Sb bilayers

Discovery of two-dimensional topological insulator such as Bi bilayer initiates challenges in exploring exotic quantum states in low dimensions. We demonstrate a promising way to realize the Kane-Mele-type quantum spin Hall (QSH) phase and the quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) phase in chemically-modified Bi and Sb bilayers using first-principles calculations. We show that single Bi and Sb bilayers ...

Quantum Hall Spin Diode.

Double layer two-dimensional electron systems at high perpendicular magnetic field are used to realize magnetic tunnel junctions in which the electrons at the Fermi level in the two layers have either parallel or antiparallel spin magnetizations. In the antiparallel case the tunnel junction, at low temperatures, behaves as a nearly ideal spin diode. At elevated temperatures the diode character ...
